Best flip flops for men in India: four pairs for short trips

By PickWise India EditorialLast reviewed November 20267 min read4 products compared

Short answer

For short daily trips, the adidas Cloudfoam, Puma Softride Seave Xpress, Campus GC-4034 and Paragon K3313G are the four pairs covered here. Each brand sizes differently, so the fit rule of the pair matters more than the usual shoe number.

Picks at a glance
  1. adidas Cloudfoam Flip-Flops (GB2589)A man who wants a brand-labelled foam footbed for short daily trips and a true-to-size fit.

The best flip flops for men who wear them daily for errands, the building compound and short local trips are a matter of footbed and fit, not of distance. Four pairs from adidas, Puma, Campus and Paragon are compared here from their own brand pages.

All four are meant for a man who wants a softer footbed than a basic hawai chappal. None of them is described by its maker as a walking shoe.

How far a flip flop should go

The American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA), a podiatry body in the United States, says that even the sturdiest flip flops offer little shock absorption and little arch support. It advises avoiding them for long walks.

A cushioned footbed makes a short trip pair more pleasant, and does not turn it into a shoe for covering distance. Readers who walk for long stretches may find that a closed shoe is the better tool for those days.

That association also advises against playing sports or doing yard work in flip flops. It also says they should not be worn again year after year, and that older pairs should be inspected and badly worn ones thrown away.

APMA runs a Seal of Acceptance for flip flops it considers able to allow the most normal foot function. None of the four pairs below was checked for that seal, and since APMA is an American body, the seal is unlikely to apply to Indian brands.

Fit and flex checks

APMA gives a simple test for flexibility. The flip flop is bent gently from one end to the other and should bend at the ball of the foot, while any pair that folds in half is called unsafe.

On fit, the foot should not hang off the edge of the flip flop, and the heel should stay on the sole. Irritation between the toes, where the thong sits, should not be ignored, since APMA says rubbing in that spot can lead to blisters and infections.

These checks are the ones a buyer can carry out at home once a pair arrives. The brand pages for these four pairs do not describe flexibility at all, so the bend test is the only way to judge it.

Ordering by size was not confirmed in November 2026, and one Campus size was shown as backordered when the page was read. Stock changes by size, so the listing of the exact size matters more than the product page as a whole.

Cushioned pairs from adidas and Puma

The adidas Cloudfoam flip flop (GB2589) is described by adidas India as a soft strap on a Cloudfoam footbed that cushions each step and dries quickly. Its upper is synthetic, the pair is a slip on, and the sizes listed are 7, 8, 10 and 11. India is the stated country of origin, though the page says some batches may be made elsewhere.

One detail on the adidas page contradicts itself. The specification list names an EVA outsole while the description says durable rubber, so the outsole material cannot be stated here with confidence. The page also gives no weight or midsole detail, and its heading calls the product a slide.

XX Puma says the midsole gives a plush feel and that the lightweight upper keeps feet cool in hot weather, both of which are brand statements.

Its upper is listed as around 60% synthetic and 40% textile, with an EVA outsole and a lining that is fully textile. The heel is a platform type, the strap carries the Puma Cat logo, and the pair is made in India.

The UK sizes run across the range shown in the table, in regular width. Weight is not given, and the page does not say what foam the Softride midsole uses, so the plush feel is the brand’s description only.

Simple EVA and arch support from Campus and Paragon

Campus describes the GC-4034 as made entirely from EVA, with soft cushioning and flexible movement for everyday use. The wider Campus men’s collection describes its flip flops as lightweight slip ons in EVA foam and Rexine, materials that are easy to clean.

No sole material, weight or arch support is listed for the GC-4034. Its description mentions off white and red, while the colour listed is black, which is worth checking against the product images before ordering.

Campus gives a care routine on the same page. Wipe with a soft cloth or brush using mild soap and cold water, dry in the shade, and avoid bleach.

Paragon sells the K3313G as a cushioned slipper with arch support. The brand states an orthopedic soft cushion footbed with arch support, a soft fabric upper listed as nylon, a non slip rubberised outsole and a sole material listed as EVA. It also states anti sweat and quick dry technology, and that the footbed helps reduce foot fatigue, which are claims by the brand and not findings from a test.

Sizes run from 6 to 10 and the pair is made in India. The Paragon page does not say whether the strap is a thong or a slide, and the pair is listed under slippers and flip flops. The product images are the way to confirm the strap style, since a slide would not suit a buyer who specifically wants a thong.

Cushioning claims in perspective

Every cushioning statement in this guide comes from a brand. Adidas says the Cloudfoam footbed cushions each step, Puma describes a plush feel, Campus lists soft cushioning, and Paragon states an arch supporting footbed that helps reduce foot fatigue.

No independent test of any of these claims was read. The one outside source, APMA, says flip flops in general give little shock absorption and arch support, so the brand wording describes softness underfoot and does not promise the support of a walking shoe.

A buyer who compares pairs on the strength of these statements is comparing descriptions, and the measurable details such as materials, sizes and the strap style are the firmer ground. Of the four, only the adidas page says that the pair dries quickly, and only the Paragon page makes a claim about sweat, which it states as anti sweat technology. A buyer who wears the pair in the building compound after rain may want to note which pages say nothing on either point.

Other pairs on the same brand sites

Each brand page also showed a second flip flop that is not among the four picks. The adidas Stabile 2.0 (JK8077) lists a cushioned footbed, synthetic straps and a rubber sole, in sizes 8 to 11.

Puma lists the Galaxy Comfort V3 with a molded EVA midsole and a grooved outsole. Its heel is flat, which is a different shape from the platform heel of the Softride Seave Xpress.

Campus lists the SL-405A with a slip resistant sole and an insole it calls Go Crazy (Yoga Flex). That page is inconsistent on the upper, naming PU in the specification and EVA in the description, so the material cannot be stated.

Which pair matches which trip

The adidas pair suits a man who wants a brand labelled foam footbed for short daily trips and a true to size rule. The Puma pair suits someone who wants a platform heel and a textile lined footbed for casual walks and everyday wear.

Campus makes the GC-4034 as a simple all EVA pair for travel and quick outings, and it needs the size down rule. Paragon is the choice for a man who wants a slip on with a footbed the brand describes as arch supporting, for short indoor and local wear, once the strap style is confirmed.

None of the four is described by its maker as suitable for long distances. For anything beyond a short trip, the APMA advice to keep a closed shoe for longer walks still applies.

Sizing by brand rule

A single size chart across these brands would mislead. Campus pages say its flip flops run large and recommend sizing down, whereas the adidas page says the pair is true to size and that the usual size should be ordered.

Puma gives a regular width and Paragon gives no fit rule. The adidas listing skips some sizes in the middle of its range, so a buyer who wears a 9 would find no matching size on that page.

APMA says the foot should not hang over the edge, and a pair that runs large but is ordered in the usual size could fail that check at the heel or toe. A man who wears one size in casual shoes may land on a different number for each of the four.

Wear and replacement

APMA advises inspecting older pairs and discarding those that are badly worn. Among the four pages, only Campus gives cleaning instructions, which are a soft cloth, mild soap, cold water and drying in the shade.

Brands such as Skechers, Crocs, Bata, Sparx, Hush Puppies and Nike are not covered, since no flip flop from them was confirmed on a brand page.

Frequently asked questions

Are flip flops bad for your feet?

Little shock absorption and arch support is what the American Podiatric Medical Association says even the sturdiest flip flops give. It advises against wearing them on long walks.

How should flip flops fit?

As per the association, the foot should not hang over the edge of the sole, and the heel should remain on the sole while walking. Irritation between the toes, where the thong sits, is not to be ignored.

How do I check if a flip flop is flexible enough?

Bend the pair gently from one end to the other. It should give way at the ball of the foot, and a pair that folds in half is called unsafe by the association.

Can I play sports or work in flip flops?

Sports and yard work are both activities the association advises against in flip flops. A closed shoe is the usual alternative for those jobs.

Do flip flops run large or true to size?

It depends on the maker. Campus pages say its pairs run large and suggest ordering a size down, while the adidas page says to order the usual size.
